Herfled Desert Ruins
These ruins are considered by many to be some of the oldest above-ground remnants of the ancient civilizations – possibly even dating all the way back to Herman’s time. The ruins are built with a kind of masonry that many ‘scientists’ can’t even begin to mimic in its nature and proficiency. Large swaths of stone seem to have been chiseled away by expert eyes and hands, while the standing architecture is not reminiscent of any other structures found so far. These ruins are said to be too large for humans, and indeed, the door frames to every enclave seem more suited to mutant-size builders. What is ironically shocking and disturbing is the complete lack of writing – either pictoral or pratical – across all the ruins. This site was heavy mined by Altfelter during its brief time in power and it is said, by those with waggling tongues, that there is an underground crypt with weaponry, technology and bodies; all of which can be traced back to before Herman’s time. Despite these theories there is one thing that these ruins never fail to do: every four months the city disappears for an amount of time and only returns on the night after every fourth month, the reasons for this disappearance are as yet unknown and baffle scholars and scientists alike. Altfelter nicknamed the ruins ‘The Sands of Time’ due to this occurrence.
