The Nockmaar are a highly advanced alien race and quite infamous for their previous reign over the Wasteland and its inhabitants. Reptilian in appearance, Wastelanders will often refer to them as “lizards” or “reptiles” when insulting them. Nockmaar are very lean in appearance, possessing very slender limbs. Although physically weak, they are equipped with long, prehensile necks and tails. In addition to jaws suited to a carnivorous diet, they can be quite dangerous within striking distance. All Nockmaar wear a pair of fitted goggles that, through a series of neural implants, directly link to the central nervous system. Acting as a replacement for their lack of eyes, these goggles can give their owners various visual feeds, such as thermal imaging, so that they may fully “see” the world around them. A very proud race, Nockmaar are especially proud of their tails and use them for most formal greetings. Insulting one’s tail is usually asking for a premature death. Most Nockmaar belong to a large family clan with the cleverest among them bearing the title of clan leader. As these clans are often in competition with each other, most clan members will fight till the death to claim territory, weapons, and technology for their kin. Nockmaar are the blood enemy of the Gnosi and the two species have a bitter, bloody history. Although the source of their conflict remains a mystery, both species have lost their home planet in their campaign to eliminate the other. With their home planet destroyed, the Nockmaar seek a new planet as their home as well as new technology to combat the Gnosi threat. For whatever reason, it appears the Wasteland has captured their interest.
The Nockmaar are excellent in close quarter combat fighting. They use speed, balance, claws and their tails to defeat their enemies. Most major Nockmaar fighting styles capitalize on the flexibility and utility of their tails. Finding a way to either sever or at least control the tail will set many off balance as they are not used to fighting without it. Additionally, due to the elongated neck being fragile, Nockmaar can and will in case of emergency retract their necks into a cavity located in their chest, rendering the neck nearly invulnerable without penetrating weaponry. Most Nockmaar will not pull their necks until extreme circumstances in leaving them vulnerable to be attacked by a cunning or swift opponent.
